New York Times - Grant Hill Season High

NEW YORK (AP) -- Grant Hill scored a season-high 28 points, nine during a fourth-quarter flurry that broke open a close game, and the Phoenix Suns pulled away to beat the New York Knicks 115-104 on Sunday night.

Amare Stoudemire added 28 points and 12 rebounds to help the Suns win for the 10th time in 12 games. Phoenix, opening a five-game road trip, also got 15 points from Shawn Marion, and nine points and 15 assists from Steve Nash.

On a recent Saturday morning, Hill had seen his mother off to the airport and visited the barbershop. Now he was seated at the kitchen table, thumbing through the latest issue of Vanity Fair while cradling his crying 3-month-old daughter, Lael, in his lap.

We just sort of assumed since Grant Hill's mom, Janet, is a former teacher who now is vice president of a business consulting firm and sits on the boards of three companies and the Fuqua School of Business at Duke, that she probably hasn't had much time to watch television game shows like Family Feud.

Named Lael Rose Hill, the baby -- weighing 8 lbs. 6 oz -- was born in Orlando, Florida.

She's the second daughter for the handsome couple who have been married since July 1999.

One More Hill to Climb

His battered left ankle, which had screws and plates inserted before the joint was finally fused together, has been through so many surgeries that he’s needed skin grafts and vein transplants to keep the area viable.

He’s happily married to a Grammy-nominated R&B singer, has one child with another on the way, and his future could include careers ranging from broadcasting to politics.

Suns Sign Grant Hill

PHOENIX

As an unrestricted free agent, Grant Hill had plenty of options. He chose the Phoenix Suns because he wants the same thing they do: an NBA title. A championship trophy has eluded the Suns since their birth in 1968 and Hill during an injury-plagued 13-year career.

"I'm sure everybody knows I've been through a lot," said Hill, who was introduced at a US Airways Center news conference Wednesday. "But I feel like this is a reward, the opportunity to play here and try to win a world championship.
